Wataniya Telecom celebrates tenth anniversary

On the occasion of the start of a season of celebrations to mark their 10th anniversary, Wataniya Telecom honored local media for their continuous effort and support throughout the years. At a gathering, organized at Le Notre restaurant, Scott Gegenheimer, GM and CEO, Wataniya Telecom, Fuad Al Ablani, Deputy GM and Abdulaziz Al Balool, PR Manager, along with other top management were present to show their appreciation and acknowledge the media’s support of their endeavor.

Starting out as the first privately operated telecommunications company in the country in 1999, Wataniya Telecom soon went on to become the first to come out with prepaid SIM cards, the first to introduce mobile entertainment, as well as the first with music and news service in the market. Soon Wataniya Telecom took their world-class technology and service beyond the country’s boundaries through regional expansions, prepaid roaming services, international top-up capabilities, and cutting-edge in-flight roaming services.

As telecommunications technologies evolved and innovative services became possible, Wataniya Telecom has been at the forefront in launching those technologies and services in the country. Since introducing  high-speed broadband in 2006, Watania Telecom has continued to up the ante on speeds offering HSDPA and soon HSUPA services to their customers in Kuwait.

On the occasion marking the start of their 10th anniversary celebrations, Wataniya Telecom can proudly reflect back on its achievements and contributions in shaping the industry in the country, in setting benchmarks in service and technological excellence and in establishing the largest telecommunications platform in Kuwait.

Ten and still going strong, Wataniya Telecom has nevertheless just got started and is set to touch further milestones in the Kuwait telecom sector.
